Adding a blog to your website is a great way to boost your search engine optimization, meaning your site will rank higher on search engines like Google and Bing.
The Dapper Site Builder offers two options for integrating a blog into your website:
- A pre-managed feed that integrates posts by Compass, LA Times, Forbes, or other news publications.
- A blog that you write
When just starting, we recommend using one of the pre-managed feeds. That will ensure a steady stream of new content published on your website. If you're more experienced and would add a personal touch, you can add a custom blog following the instructions below.
Changing the Blog Feed or Adding a Custom Blog
- Log into your website's dashboard.
- On the left menu, click Appearance, then Themes
- Click Customize next to the active theme
- On the customize page, click "Blog" from the left menu
- Under Feed, choose the publication you'd like to show blog posts from OR choose "My Own Blogs" to show blog posts you've written.
- If you'd like to hide the Blog section entirely, click the toggle that says "Hide Section."
Adding Blog Posts
If you choose "My Own Blogs," your website will display news posts you've written rather than curated ones from news publications. You can view and add the posts from the dashboard. To add a new one, follow these tips:
- Log in to your website's dashboard.
- Click Posts on the left menu, then click Add New.
- Use the media editor to fill out your blog post. You can upload photos and videos using the "Add Media" button. They'll get embedded in the article.
- Once you've finished writing your blog, click Publish on the right.
- Under the publish window, you can add categories to help group your posts or add tags to help users locate posts relating to a specific topic.
Helpful Tips for Blogs
- You can use the House button on the toolbar to add a "Sell my house" form, a link to a listing, or a link to an IDX page.
